All of the students at The Shlenker School participate in a daily writing workshop where we write the stories of our lives, study the work of authors, and hone our writing craft. The writer's workshop follows a predictable structure each day. The workshop begins with a brief mini-lesson where the teacher models, followed by independent practice where all of the students work on their individual writing. The workshop ends with a daily "share" time where students share the strategies they've tried that day. At The Shlenker School, we believe that by providing daily opportunities for our students to write, we can foster a love of writing while students strengthen their craft.
